Lego Train set of Doug Ash
Located in Vancouver, B.C., Canada
Like many adults I started playing with Lego when my kids were small. With daughters I felt a construction toy would offset what I abhorred in the toy industry’s stereotyping. I have to confess I enjoyed the first train sets more than my kids. I would do track layouts and they would build houses for their “families”.

Then the kids got too old for Lego so the set remained dormant for years until I discovered BrickLink. A web site that was MADE for me. I started expanding my old 4.5V set because engines with their own power can travel on a wider variety of track layouts than a train getting its power from the track. Staights, curves, crossovers, points, 4.5V, 9V, 12V – what a variety.
I started in Lions Bay with my 9’x5’ Ping-Pong table but soon out grew it and started adding 4’x8’ 3/4” plywood “tables”. As the set grew, one large basement room 24’x20’ became the “Train Room”. The look on my friends faces when entering the room can only be appreciated by other aficionados. My brother in law Ted said “why don’t you create a web site so you can find other Lego train enthusiasts that share your passion.
I moved to North Vancouver and started from scratch with a different room, but the same keen interest to build a big model so I could play and my grandchildren could play.
So here is the web site for 4.5V and now RC Lego trains. If you see what you like email me: Doug@SmartHotelSoftware.com
Movie showing as many trains as I can make move. My goal is 20.
